Reviews and Ratings
Staying at The Lalit was a delightful experience. The rooms in the legacy tower were spacious, clean, and equipped with all the amenities one would expect from a top-tier hotel. The personalized services added a special touch to the stay, but there were some shortcomings in the size of the property to accommodate a full capacity of guests.
The hotel is a mix of great and not-so-great aspects. The rooms, with their superb dining in the 'heritage' part of the hotel, offer the best facilities but can fill up quickly, necessitating a walk to another breakfast spot nearby. The service is top-notch, catering well to families and always seeking feedback for improvement. The location is convenient and central, although the Heritage Side and bathroom leak were not ideal. The dining experience varies from fabulous to awful, depending on what you try, while the facilities overall are excellent.
The hotel was excellent with fantastic rooms, good food quality, and very courteous and smart staff. The location is superb with a central setting and nearby attractions but is situated in a Muslim-majority area. The dining experience, particularly for lovers of Indian cuisine, was wonderful although could have added one more signature dish. Overall, a great stay with a few minor drawbacks.
The hotel's heritage wing rooms are beautiful and spacious, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. However, the hotel fills up quickly, prompting guests to use facilities in adjacent buildings which may be inconvenient, especially in the early morning hours. The breakfast room is also a bit small when the hotel is full.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were not only spacious but also had all the amenities I needed, including a large walk-in shower. The check-in process was smooth, and the room was safe, clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. The strong water pressure rain shower was a real treat, and I appreciated the unlimited complimentary bottled water.
The hotel offers a mix of experiences with clean, comfortable rooms and luxurious touches, but falls short in certain aspects. The service is well-mannered and trained, yet some areas may lack sufficient training due to low pay. The location is excellent, right at the heart of central Kolkata, but comparisons to other 5-star hotels may reveal differences. The dining options provide a fantastic array of local and international flavors, although some variability could enhance the experience.
The hotel's rooms, although a bit aged, offer privacy and are tucked away from the main road. While there was some noise issue, every amenity was provided, but I had to wait 40 minutes for tea during breakfast. The service, especially from Anita and Priyanka Ghosh, was extremely friendly and made my stay memorable. The location, despite being congested with heavy traffic, is very central, close to the city center and the US visa consulate. The dining experience was highlighted by delicious and varied options, though cold meats were a drawback. Overall, a good value for money with some room for improvement in certain areas.
My stay at the hotel was overall pleasant. The rooms in the old section, despite being comfortable and well-maintained with great TV and WIFI, had a billing issue that resulted in a 35% overcharge. The service was exceptional with supportive and friendly staff. The location, though ideal for exploring old Kolkata on foot, was surrounded by bachelor clubs which might not suit all guests. The dining experience was sumptuous but not recommended due to the blazing sunlight in the glass-roofed restaurant.
The hotel in the heritage part felt a bit aged, and there was a 40-minute wait for tea during breakfast at a minimal extra cost, which was inconvenient as it was my last night. Despite this, the service was exceptionally courteous and prompt, making my stay at The Lalit Hotel wonderful and comfortable. The location, though central in Kolkata, had some discomforts like water leaks in the shower area, but it provided a fully cared-for experience with convenient access to shopping and food. The dining options offered a fabulous variety, especially for vegetarians, although some menu items were unavailable. The facilities were well-maintained overall.
